Help & safety

Everything to keep cats and people safe.

Emergency?

If a cat is badly hurt or in danger (stuck in an engine, attacked by dogs), call Dubai Municipality on 800 900 as well as reporting it here. Take the cat to the nearest 24-hour vet if you safely can.

Why the map shows areas, not spots

Exact places where cats live are seen only by rescue admins. In other countries, public stray maps have been used to hurt animals, so the public map shows a circle around the neighbourhood instead.

No money in Qitta

Cats on Qitta have no price, and Qitta never takes payments or donations. Cat pages show what care has cost, with receipts. If you want to help with costs, agree it with the rescuer in chat and pay the vet or rescuer directly.

Watch out for scams

Never send money to someone who promises to ship you a cat, asks for a 'travel fee' up front, or won't video call. Real Qitta rescuers are shown with a green Verified rescue admin tick.

Feeding cats

Feeding in public places can be fined in Dubai. Feed in agreed spots, clean up after, and ask your building management first. Neutering through a rescue group (TNR) is the kindest long-term help.

Adopting from abroad

Flying a cat out of the UAE usually takes 3 to 4 months: microchip, rabies vaccine, a rabies blood (titer) test, a waiting period, then an export permit and health certificate. Cats fly as cargo on most airlines. Rescuers guide you through it in chat.

Install Qitta on your phone

iPhone: open Qitta in Safari, tap Share, then 'Add to Home Screen'. Android: open it in Chrome, tap the menu, then 'Install app'. It opens like a normal app with its own icon.
